FAQs

I understand that you want to make your day perfect, and part of that is finding the right person to help set the tone.

I’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked questions here, but if any of your questions aren’t answered here then please do get in touch!

  • Celebrants are trained to give a bespoke, personal touch to your day. It's my job to get to know you and your loved ones and create a ceremony that reflects you perfectly.

It's this extra time and care that makes celebrants worthwhile. I want you to feel like you are being guided through your day by a friend who knows you and understands your hopes and ideas for the ceremony. Whether that's stories to include, things to avoid, or special extra details, we can create a ceremony that is perfect for you.

  • In short - no. Couples who choose a celebrant for their wedding tend to do the 'legal bit' beforehand at a registry office, or invite a registrar to the ceremony.

Celebrants are here to make your wedding day special, thoughtful and personal to you, but we don't conduct the legal formalities.

  • I live in Sheffield, but I work all across the country.

Please note: if you live more than an hour outside of Sheffield then we may need to conduct our initial meetings online where appropriate.

  • Yes! I'm proud to be registered with the association of independent celebrants. You can see my profile here - https://independentcelebrants.com/celebrants/tom-salmons/

  • Journeys under 45 minutes are included in the price of your booking. Any journeys above this may incur a small charge to cover petrol, but I'm happy to discuss this when you enquire.

  • Yes - I have full public liability insurance.

  • Absolutely! As my role as a celebrant is not the legally binding part of your wedding, we're not restricted to licensed venues. That's often the beauty of a celebrant wedding - if you find a location that you love, we can make it work!

  • Once you've enquired I will be in touch to arrange a quick call so we can meet and talk about your plans. I want to make sure you have the right person for your day, so there is absolutely no obligation to go ahead with the booking if I'm not what you're looking for.

If you decide to go ahead with the booking then I will send over an invoice for your deposit and arrange a good time for us to meet and discuss arrangements for the day.

  • A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking, but only after I've called you to discuss quotes and plans for your day.

If the date of your booking changes then your deposit will be safely transferred to the new booking if I have availability.

  • I know that times are tough at the moment, and weddings and funerals can be incredibly expensive. If you're struggling to afford the cost of the day but still want to make a booking then please do get in touch and we can try and work something out for you.
